(REPOST: Stone Mountain Volkswagen)

There has been a lot of talk in the industry about electric cars but there have not been very many brought to market. Volkswagen is about to add one more to the mix that you can choose from. While at the Detroit show in 2017, the maker showcases the I.D. Buzz concept and now they have officially put it into production.

It is a fully electronic vehicle that takes into account everything that has made VW vehicles iconic. The decision to place it into production was announced by the VW CEO of the North American Region, Hinrich J. Woebcken, and the Chairmen of the Boards of Management of the Volkswagen and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands, Dr Herbert Diess and Dr Eckhard Scholz. They announced this decision at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California.

When and What to Expect

Unfortunately, you do have to wait a little while before this hits the market. In fact, it is not expected to be on sale until sometime in 2022. It will be available in Europe, China, and North America. The design of the I.D. Buzz will use components of the Microbus, a classic VW vehicle. They have decided to bring it back and make it an electric vehicle. There will be batteries that are mounted on the floor of the vehicle and there will be other drive components that are fairly small in space such as power electronics and the electric motor. There will be a lot of space in the interior, especially because of the long wheelbase.
It will essentially provide space like an SUV while looking like a small commercial van from the outside. Overall, the design is one that provides customers with a way to encourage sustainability on the roads while also making it a very usable vehicle that stirs up those classic emotions. It is the ideal vehicle for those who want to achieve zero-emissions and look towards the future. Additionally, because of its design, it will not be one that is only for passengers but also for cargo. There will even be an I.D. Buzz Cargo model that will be ideal for businesses to use for their daily work.

Not Available Until 2022
There is a lot of time to wait for this vehicle but the wait will be worth it. More details will come out when it is closer to the release date, but for now, this is just enough to get the excitement going. Since it will be several years, you will have to wait to test drive it and take a look inside of it but when the time comes, if you would like to see it for yourself and try it out, be sure to stop by our show room or call us to get that set up. It has been more than seven decades since the Microbus was made and this is a great new way to make it ideal for our society and the wants of the consumers today.
